Josh Shields has to call it a season. The Northern Patriots reliever sustained a season-ending injury against the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Shields was injured while throwing a pitch. His doctors diagnosed it as a ruptured finger tendon and stated that he would not be able to play for 4 months.

To date in the season, Shields is 2-6 with 45 relief appearances and no saves. He has held opposing batters to a .306 average, pitched 42.1 innings, struck out 29 and walked 19 while recording a 7.02 ERA.
