Torres Launches 3 HR for Bearkats Thursday, July 15th , 2032 Sam Houston State Bearkats second baseman Vicente Torres put on a dazzling display of power today at Don Sanders Stadium against the San Francisco Dons. In the 7-4 Bearkats victory Torres penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," San Francisco manager Ervin Santana said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 21-year-old had 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Torres said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Vicente Torres hit a solo-shot off Hyo-jun Han in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Hyo-jun Han in the 5th, walked in the 7th, walked in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Chiel Michielsen in the 10th. Torres on the season is batting .275 with 16 home runs. His totals include 50 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has played in 80 games. |
