Schrijver Slams 5 Hits for Cheyenne Sunday, June 6th , 2032 Even as a kid, Valke Schrijver said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At iField @ Berkshire Hathaway Park today, Schrijver showed how well he learned that lesson. The 29-year-old left fielder had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Cheyenne Regulators, helping his team knock off the Durham Bulls by a score of 7-6. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today." Valke Schrijver doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. This year Schrijver is batting .329 with 68 hits, 3 home runs, 24 RBIs, 12 walks, .369 OBP and has scored 23 runs. View Boxscore |
