Díaz Hittin' on All Cylinders Wednesday, July 21st , 2032 José Díaz did everything he could for the Daniel Brand A's today -- literally. The 32-year-old third baseman hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Brand A's, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Puerto Rico Tropics, 9-2, at VBL's Best Ballpark. "Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Díaz reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat." In a game headed for the record books, Díaz banged out 4 hits in 5 at-bats and totaled 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck." "A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle." José Díaz hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Eric Martell in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and tripled in the 8th.
