Hernández Finally Fails, Streak Ends at 24 Wednesday, May 12th , 2032 The Austin BigStars lost to the Sausalito Meatballs 8-3 today at Googleplex, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Wilson Hernández's 24-game hitting streak. The right fielder went 0-for-4 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Hernández, we would win the game," Meatballs manager Jim Cross explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." Hernández is hitting .371 so far this season with 29 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has 49 hits including 8 home runs, 12 walks and .425 OBP. |
