Red Birds Win at Shelbyville, 8-1
|
The Toronto Red Birds picked up a win at Pete Rose Field, knocking off the Shelbyville Reds, 8-1. Starting pitcher Jeffrey Hogan was a big reason why. Hogan, now 5-5, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. The last-place Reds have dropped 6 straight games.
Juan Flores, the former first round draft pick , had a direct impact on the outcome. Flores contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Toronto up, 3-0.
"Jeffrey was throwing free and easy," said Toronto manager Manny Martinez.
