Buzzards Come Up Short at Hartford, 3-2
In a low-scoring affair between the Hartford Whalers and the Death Valley Buzzards, pitcher Mitch Craft was the difference between victory and defeat. The Hartford left-hander earned accolades in the 3-2 Whalers win. Hideyoshi Watanabe closed the door for Hartford, picking up his 3rd save of the year. Hartford goes to 4-2.

António Sosa dealt the Buzzards a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with a runner on 3rd and Hartford leading 2-0, Sosa hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single.

"I like our moxie," said Whalers manager Jorge Padilla.
