5 Straight Wins for Spiders
The Cleveland Spiders topped the Toronto Red Birds, 8-4, in Nied League action at Cy Young Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Cleveland pitcher and San Juan, Puerto Rico, native Gilberto Martínez. The 4th-place Spiders have won 5 consecutive games.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Spiders grabbed the lead when Donny van Zelst rapped a two-out single. Cleveland was trailing 1-0, when van Zelst hit a 2-run single off Steve Mills to put his team in front, 2-1.
