Puerto Rico picked up a win at Roberto Clemente Park, toppling the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 4-1. Pitcher Tyler Mumford was one of the reasons the Tropics triumphed. Mumford, now 4-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The save went to Miles Dijk, number 17 for him.
Puerto Rico took a 4-1 lead on José Carlos Saldaña's 20th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Saldaña hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Winnipeg pitcher José López visibly frustrated.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Puerto Rico manager José Delgado. "Our pregame was pretty good."
The triumph puts Puerto Rico at 30-28 for the season.
