Spiders Down Red Birds, 4-3
|
The Cleveland Spiders did just enough to sneak past the Toronto Red Birds, 4-3, at Cy Young Stadium. Cleveland pitcher Gijs de Beeld, in particular, had a standout performance. The winner was Cleveland reliever Man-u Kim, now 1-0. The loser was Gonzalo Anaya. Cleveland has won 4 straight games.
The Spiders procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Oneil Cruz. In the bottom of the 12th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
After the game, Cleveland manager Rodrigo Hernández applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
