Lakers Win Thriller, 4-3

The Winnipeg Goldeyes got a superb performance from pitcher Cecil Powell, but the Echo Park Lakers still won the game, 4-3. Powell threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Echo Park reliever Carlos Pérez picked up the win, raising his record to 4-3. Eric Davis was tagged with the loss. Echo Park currently is in 7th place in the Anderson League Sabathia Division at 65-86.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Echo Park trailing 3-2, Vicente Valdéz hit a fastball from Eric Davis to left for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Lakers had a walk-off win.
Valdéz described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
