The Death Valley Buzzards withstood an impressive performance by Puerto Rico third baseman Esteban Medina to defeat the Tropics, 8-7, at Roberto Clemente Park. Medina was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Josh Hader earned the save for Death Valley, his 8th of the year. Death Valley has a 3-game win streak, while Puerto Rico has lost 3 in a row.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Santiago Lima was at the plate when Death Valley scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Buzzards to go in front, 8-7.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Lima.
