|
In a low-scoring affair between the Austin BigStars and the Cumberland Copperheads, pitcher Iemochi Oda was the difference between victory and defeat. The Austin left-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 BigStars win. The save was credited to Charles Parsons, his 41st. The win gives Austin a season record of 79-56.
Bob Jones, the slick-fielding shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Jones contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put Austin up, 2-0.
"Every loss hurts," said Cumberland manager David Eckstein. "But this was a tough one."
