Camels Come Up Short at Brooklyn, 5-4
|
The Cooperstown Camels and Brooklyn Bats provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Brooklyn Bats overcame a fine performance by Cooperstown second baseman Roberto Sánchez to defeat the Camels, 5-4, at Jackie Robinson Park. Sánchez was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. The winning pitcher was Jasper Wagenmakers. He tossed 81 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits.
António Marés, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2026 draft, aided the Brooklyn cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the second. For the game, the third baseman was 1-3 with a double.
Marés told the Brooklyn Observer: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
The win gives the Bats a record of 16-31.
