Puerto Rico Tropics starter Carlos Marín was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Death Valley Buzzards, 4-1. In 6 innings, Marín surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Miles Dijk earned save number 8 this season.

Puerto Rico left fielder José Rivero contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 24th hit of the season and put the Tropics ahead, 2-1.
