Puerto Rico and Death Valley got after it at Roberto Clemente Park.

Huibert Meijer never let Death Valley get something going. The Puerto Rico right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Tropics to a 6-0 win. Meijer got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 2 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. Meijer allowed no runs. Andrés Rodríguez recorded his 1st save for Puerto Rico.

Marcos Morales went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI for Puerto Rico. The 29-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Theodore Taylor. It was his 17th RBI of the season.

"We had a nice day," said Puerto Rico skipper José Delgado.

Death Valley, with the loss, is 11-13.
