A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Corpus Christi Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits and Saint Louis Martins.

Corpus Christi starter Jose Berrios had a strong outing against the Saint Louis Martins at Biscuits Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 7-3 win. Berrios, now 1-1, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run.

The Martins had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the fan favorite Adrián Maldonado came to the plate. Maldonado hit a 2-run double on a 0-1 fastball from Saint Louis hurler Alfredo Guzmán. It was Maldonado's 8th double of the year.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Maldonado said.

Corpus Christi is now 10-14.
