Cyclones Hang 4-1 Loss on Martins
|
Oklahoma City starter Frank Maxwell had a strong outing against the Saint Louis Martins at Cyclone Alley. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 4-1 win. Maxwell went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-0. The save was credited to Amedeo Scotti, his 1st.
The Cyclones got an important contribution from shortstop Carlos Correa, who in the bottom of the third punched a 0-1 forkball into right for a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Cyclones ahead, 3-0.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Oklahoma City skipper Bobby J Jones.
Oklahoma City goes to 1-1.
