Stratford pitcher Steve Reed did his part in helping his team beat the Toronto Red Birds, 6-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Chris Sharp got the save, his 24th in 29 chances. Stratford is now 83-49.

Stratford used the bat of Matt Chapman to get the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cosmos ahead, 6-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"Steve was Steve," said Cosmos manager George Brandt. "He gave it all he's got."
