Torres Leads Cosmos to Win
In a tight contest at The Lockar Room, the Stratford Cosmos edged the Kiawah Island Muckdogs by the score of 7-6. Stratford shortstop Tony Torres, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Jim Berthe, 5-3, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Chris Sharp earned his 23rd save in 28 tries.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Juan Mercado was at the plate when Stratford scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Cosmos to go in front, 7-6.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Torres told the Stratford Herald. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."

The victory gives Stratford a record of 81-48.
