Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Buck$
The Border City Buck$ overcame a fine performance by Saint Louis designated hitter Felipe Hernández to defeat the Martins, 7-5, at Sportman's Park. Hernández was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Ken van Tiggelen got the save, his 16th in 20 chances. Border City is 54-70 and Saint Louis, with the loss, 60-64.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Aleksander Kraja came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Saint Louis pitcher António Rodríguez, he hit a full count curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Border City on top, 6-5.

"You can't take yourself too seriously," Kraja told the Border City Daily. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
