Spiders Win, 7-5, Extend Streak to 5 Games
|
Toronto got a terrific game from first baseman Marc Nelson. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Cleveland, 7-5. Nelson went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. Earning his 21st save of the year was Vicente Maldonado. The 4th-place Spiders have won 5 straight.
In the bottom of the sixth, Cleveland pinch hitter Dong-kyoon Pae put his team on top. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit his 18th home run of the year. Toronto pitcher Pedro Castillo served it up. Just like that, the Spiders were ahead, 6-5.
"We ground out the win," said Pae. "That's all that matters."
