Late Magic Gets Puerto Rico 8-5 Win
The Puerto Rico Tropics weathered an outstanding game by Hartford catcher Roberto Anaya to topple the Whalers, 8-5. Anaya was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Puerto Rico reliever Manabu Oike picked up the win to move to 3-0. Ernesto Martínez suffered the loss. The win puts Puerto Rico at 7-5.

The outcome might have been different for Puerto Rico, had it not been for Royce Lewis, the 27-year old shortstop . Lewis stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put Puerto Rico up, 5-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Lewis.
