Cosmos Lose By a Run at Brooklyn, 6-5
|
The Stratford Cosmos got a superb performance from pitcher Archie Esparza. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Brooklyn. The Bats won the game, 6-5. Esparza threw 5.1 innings of 1-hit ball. Brooklyn reliever John Lambert was the winner. His record is now 12-6. Chris Sharp took the loss. The victory gives the Bats a record of 66-52.
Brooklyn took a 6-5 lead on Fernando Tatis Jr.'s 5th triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Tatis Jr. hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Stratford pitcher Héctor Montoya visibly frustrated.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Tatis Jr..
