Copperheads Deal Cosmos 2-0 Defeat
|
Miguel Quintana pitched a gem to lead Cumberland to victory over the Stratford Cosmos, 2-0. The winning pitcher was Quintana, now 7-7. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. With the win, the Copperheads hiked their record to 63-54.
Cumberland relied on the bat of Fraser Wearne to get the win. The right fielder ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Copperheads ahead, 2-0. For the game, Wearne had 1 double and 1 home run in 2 at-bats.
"We didn't score," said losing manager George Brandt. "That was the problem."
