Starting pitcher Amdre Nova pitched well enough to help the Stratford Cosmos beat the Cumberland Copperheads, 8-5. Nova, now 11-6, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Earning the save was Rick Cederberg. He's now cashed in 11 of 13 save opportunities.
Bill Hawkins made an early impact for Stratford when he stroked his 10th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came with one out in the bottom of the second, put the Cosmos on top, 7-0.
"Winning never gets dull," said Nova.
With the win, Stratford pushed its record to 74-42.
