Conditions were not ideal but Austin and Toronto were able to put their game in the books.

The Austin BigStars downed the Toronto Red Birds, 9-2, at Googleplex. Shusaku Takabayashi led the way, going 3-for-4 for Austin. Rick Meagher got the win, improving to 2-3. He worked 7 innings, giving up 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0.

With Austin leading 6-2 in the bottom of the eighth, Takabayashi hit a bases-clearing double off Toronto hurler Zijadin Xhumba. It was the 16th double of the season for Takabayashi and put his team ahead, 9-2.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Takabayashi. "And not try to do too much."

The win puts Austin at 62-44 this season.
