White Belts Bunch of Base Hits
Today at Harold Kraft Memorial Field, Eugene White put on an impressive display.

The North Dakota Fighting Hawks first baseman tagged UC Riverside pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the UC Riverside Highlanders by the score of 10-6.

"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," White said. "5-for-6 ain't bad in any league."

Despite the terrific performance, the Fighting Hawks manager was unwilling to offer the first baseman much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.

"Eugene told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Kevin Allen said.

Eugene White singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Gustavo Valdéz in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Hugo Gonnet in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.


In 113 games this season White has compiled a .347 batting average with 143 hits and 29 home runs. He has also scored 65 times and knocked in 80 runs.
