The Stratford Cosmos got a sterling performance from pitcher Juan Velázquez, but the Vancouver Lynx still prevailed, 8-5. Velázquez threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The Lynx sport a record of 38-61.

The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Vancouver trailing 5-4, Brent Gifford jumped on a 2-2 fastball from Doug George for a grand slam home run, sending the Lynx to a walk-off win.

"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Gifford said.
