Starting pitcher Donovan Straughan pitched well enough to help the Austin BigStars beat the Cumberland Copperheads, 8-3. Mike Cox got credit for the save for Austin. It was his 9th of the year. The first-place BigStars have won 4 in a row.

The BigStars got a big hit from right fielder Charles Dawson. In the bottom of the eighth, Dawson pounded a 3-run home run to right-center. His 2nd home run of the season put the BigStars ahead, 8-2.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Dawson told the Austin Herald.
