Amdre Nova never let the Spiders get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his cutter, to pitch the Cosmos to a win, 2-1. Rick Cederberg, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save. The slumping Spiders have dropped 7 in a row.

Rusty Simmons, the 24-year old third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Simmons contributed a solo home run in the top of the second inning to put Stratford up, 2-0.

In postgame comments to the Stratford Herald, Nova said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
