Copperheads Defeat Buck$, 7-6
|
The Cumberland Copperheads relied on the hitting of catcher Francisco Rodríguez to stop the Border City Buck$, 7-6. For the game, Rodríguez went 3-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Cumberland pitcher Juan Bradley got the win, upping his record to 3-1. Roger Gosse got the loss. Roger Taylor picked up the save for Cumberland, his 25th of the year.
Cumberland used the timely hitting of Marty King to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Copperheads on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Rodríguez said after the game.
Border City's current losing streak has reached 7 games.
