Tropics Come Up Short at South Side, 5-4
|
South Side left-hander Roberto Sánchez pitched his team to victory over the Puerto Rico Tropics at The Enforcer Grounds. The final score was 5-4. Sánchez, now 7-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. With the win, South Side raised its record to 51-26.
The Tropics had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Enforcers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the two-time The Barrett Award (MVP) winner Santiago González came to the plate. González hit a 2-run home run on a full count cutter from Puerto Rico hurler Jin-young Park. It was González's 13th home run of the year.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," González said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
