In a low-scoring affair between the Puerto Rico Tropics and the Bugaboo Creek Caribou, pitcher Carlos Marín was the difference between victory and defeat. The Puerto Rico left-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 Tropics win. Marín got the win, improving to 7-6. He allowed 3 hits and walked 3 over 6.1 innings. Marín allowed 1 run. The win elevated the Tropics to 43-33.

Puerto Rico used the bat of José Carlos Saldaña to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Tropics ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Saldaña.
