It was a fairy-tale day for Valentín Ramírez -- right up until the end.

The Johnstown Jets left fielder had an almost-unbelievable 4 home runs at Sportman's Park, but his fairy-tale ending was snatched away by the Eureka Guardians, who took a 9-8 win.

"I'm paid to hit 'em, and I hit 'em real good today, but not good enough to win the game," Ramírez said to BNN reporters after his historic game. "The loss tarnishes it a bit and takes away some from the day. Give it to the Guardians, they hung in and stayed with us the whole time."

On his big day, the left fielder for the Jets had 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

"Valentín probably earned himself a few days without hearing any criticism from me," Johnstown manager Jorge Posada told reporters later. "The rest of the guys, not so much."

Valentín Ramírez hit a solo-shot off Beau Walls in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Beau Walls in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Beau Walls in the 5th, walked in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Steef Bax in the 9th.

So far this season Ramírez has hit .294 with 14 home runs, 31 RBIs and scored 26 times.
