Stratford got a big-time effort from pitcher Bernard Jacobs, but it wasn't enough to keep the Austin BigStars from winning the game, 5-4. Jacobs threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Dusty Bowden earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 3.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. The BigStars raised their record to 6-2.

Austin used a clutch hit from Jesús Rodríguez to get the win. The center fielder drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the BigStars ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

In postgame comments to the Austin Herald, Rodríguez said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
