Whalers Earn 2-1 Win Versus Buzzards
The Hartford Whalers picked up a win at Eversource Delivery Charge Field, taking down the Death Valley Buzzards, 2-1. Starting pitcher Bill Gill was a big reason why. Hideyoshi Watanabe, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. The Whalers, now 5-2, have played some good baseball in the early going.

Tom Parkinson was the walk-off hero for Hartford. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Whalers first baseman hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Death Valley manager Brennan Baker.
